My latest podcast for Palisades Gold Radio is now available, part 1 of a two-part podcast titled War, Inflation and De-Globalization -–Navigating an Unstable Future

Tom Bodrovics is once again joined by global forecaster and author David Murrin to discuss the interrelatedness of China and Russia and the possibility of more conflicts around the world. Murrin explains the Kondratiev Cycle of economic turmoil and how it has manifested as a war between NATO and Russia over Ukraine. He warns of the dangers of lateral-thinking predators like Putin and Xi and paints a scenario of what an unstable future could look like if Ukraine loses the war. He argues that the Biden administration is the root of the problem and that NATO needs to go on a wartime footing and provide essential equipment to Ukraine.

In this episode David and Winston continue their conversation concerning the fleets of Pacific nations. The questions under investigation include: Are light carriers effective at power projection? Are frigates genuinely effective in modern naval warfare, or are they inferior to destroyers? Is the Taiwanese Navy disadvantaged through it's reliance on patrol boats? What is the quality of these Navies like? How well would these three nations be able to cooperate in a conflict?

Our results are out for Q1 2023:

Our best alpha-generating positions for the quarter were long silver and short the dollar index. As shown in the blue box, the quarter in silver comprised of a move lower into early March and then a retracement of that fall, back to the highs. In effect a V price action, which was replicated across most of the macro sectors. However, by using our ratchet risk model, we were able to make more alpha on the way up than we lost on the way down. Which was a good endorsement of our risk methodology. But most importantly, in silver and the dollar, this risk management methodology has kept us in these core strategic trades and added to our alpha-generated war chest.
