Upscale Warship Building Program Is Needed To Safeguard Global Britain

With the clear and present danger to Global Britain from Russia and China, the public needs to understand the threat and to demand of their Prime Minister and cabinet members that they be protected, much as the public did post the German invasion of the Rhineland in March 1936. Indeed, the pressure then became so great that, against the wishes of the Air Ministry who subscribed to the concept that the Bomber always got through, that Fighter Command was created, allowing the Battle of Britain to be won four years later. Today, the reality is unnervingly similar as, post-pandemic, for reasons highlighted in The Unnatural Origins of The Wuhan Pandemic And The Geopolitical Consequences, we are effectively in a pre-war state with China and potentially Russia.

Urgent Action Needed

Submarines are the Kings of the ocean in an age where carriers have become un-defendable due to ballistic missiles and hypersonics. Yet Britain has neglected its SSN and SSBN fleet, and hence a massive emergency spending is required to redress the nation’s vulnerability. At present we only have one BAE Systems' shipyard in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria and we need a second shipyard to double or even treble production rates. Not only does the RN need 12 SSNs but it need its new Dreadnought SSBNs in service much earlier than the planed early 2030 service date. Any exess capacity could then be allocated to the Aukus treaty provisions.
